      <image:title>Verruca - Verruca Treatment</image:title>
<image:caption>Verrucas are very common and are caused by an infection with the human papilloma virus (HPV). They can look unsightly and are sometimes painful. The virus causes an excessive amount of keratin, a hard protein, to develop which produces a rough, hard texture. Verrucas are very contagious and can be passed on by skin-to-skin contact or even indirectly, for example, at swimming pools and gym floors. Verruca removal I can discuss the various treatment options with you, however I am pleased to now offer Verrutop® a new type of treatment for warts and verrucas. Verrutop is a topical solution for professional use providing painless treatment of difficult verrucas that is highly effective in just a few applications. If deciding to go ahead with verrutop treatment, I will need to return every two weeks to treat the verruca. ● The treatment kills the wart tissue by breaking down its protein structure, leaving intact skin underneath. ● No pain has been reported in clinical studies, either during application or afterwards. ● Verrutop is suitable for adults and children as young as 6 years Warts and verrucas can sometimes be difficult to remove and success cannot be guaranteed. The problem may even return at a later date. However, the Verrutop manufacturer, Espère Healthcare, states that 80% of patients saw clearance within four applications. <image:title>Fungal Nail - Fungal Treatment</image:title>
<image:caption>Unsightly, uncomfortable and unhealthy, toenail fungus is a condition that brings many people to my service. Fungal nails are identifiable by white spots on the surface of toenails, yellow/brown tracks at the end of the nail, similar tracks extending up from the cuticle or crumbling at the nail edges. At their worst, they can cause total destruction or deformity of the nail and may spread to other toenails or may spread to the skin of the foot leading to athletes foot. If it’s something you know – or think – you’re suffering from, I'm here to help. My patient-focussed approach to foot care and the problem of nail fungus means that after assessing your nails and talking things through with you, I recommend the treatment I consider to be the best for you. Many people find fungal infections spread very slowly and are completely painless. They are very common in active adults and the older person population. I will determine whether you are suffering from one of the following forms of fungal infection: ● White superficial onychomycosis ● Distal lateral subungal onychomycosis ● Proximal lateral subungal onychomycosis ● Total dystrophic onychomycosis I can offer topical medications (lotions or creams which are applied directly to the affected nails), which you can also use daily to help control and treat the infection. <image:title>Medical Pedicure - Medical Pedicure</image:title>
<image:caption>My medical pedicure is a thorough overhaul of your feet. It is a non-invasive treatment that sees to and ensures both the health and beauty of your feet. Notably, a medical pedicure combines all elements of my Foot Health services with the safe removal of corns, calluses, hard and dry skin. Whether you are male or female, young or old, medical pedicures go beyond the simple cosmetic nail shaping and polish you may get from a high street beauty parlour. If you spend a lot of time on your feet, have been squeezing your toes into uncomfortable shoes, engage in regular sports activity or suffer from a condition such as diabetes, receiving this treatment makes even more sense. And, for men who want to take care of their feet, it can be off-putting to make an appointment with a high street pedicurist. Removing hard skin and dealing with warts, callouses and conditions such as fungal nail infections requires a certain skill level that is not normally available in your average high street salon. What happens during a medical pedicure? I will initially examine the feet before carrying out the treatment. Once completed, the medical pedicure involves the safe removal of corns, calluses, and hard, dry skin which will then be followed with a routine pedicure where toenails are cut, shaped, and buffed, together with a cuticle treatment and deep exfoliation. Nails are then treated with a nail serum. This is then followed by a foot cream application. My medical pedicure treatment leaves your feet looking and feeling healthy, attractive, and revitalized. For a small additional fee I can offer a range of nail polish colours for you to choose from to have applied to your nails. I can also offer gel application either with treatment or on its own for an addition price. I recommend a Medical Pedicure every 8-10 weeks for happy and healthy feet. Cost: £42 mobile visit or £38 at Beauty Within salon Coastal Foot Health</image:caption>

      <image:title>Thai Foot Massage - Thai Foot Massage</image:title>
<image:caption>Did you know you have over 7,000 nerve endings in your feet and this is what makes having your feet massage such a blissful experience. Thai foot massage aims to stimulate and balance the activity of the internal organs, and promote the circulation of blood and lymph, which in turn helps to encourage the natural elimination (or ‘detoxifying’) processes in the body According to the theory of the practices of acupuncture and acupressure, there are an outstanding 7,200 sensory nerve endings in each foot which are connected to the internal organs that spread throughout the body. A Thai foot massage applies pressure to particular areas of the soles of the feet. What is Thai Foot massage? Thai foot massage is a deep and profound massage treatment working on the feet and lower legs, evolved from a combination of Chinese massage and Thai massage techniques. Hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles and a rounded wooden Thai foot massage stick are used to stimulates certain areas of the feet releasing blocked energy within the body’s many Sens lines (Thai-based meridians). This helps to balance and restore a healthy flow of energy throughout the body as well as dispersing a build up of crystals of calcium and uric acid (toxic wastes)……and herein lies the connection with reflexology. The principle is based on the link between the feet and the internal organs, and that most of the sensory nerves which innervate internal organs are connected to the soles of the feet, so by working on the feet the activity of the internal organs is thought to be affected, similarly to Reflexology - in fact Thai Foot Massage is sometimes called ‘Thai Foot Reflexology’! How can Thai foot massage help? Thai foot massage aims to stimulate and balance the activity of the internal organs, and promote the circulation of blood and lymph, which in turn helps to encourage the natural elimination (or ‘detoxifying’) processes in the body. The treatment mobilises all parts of the feet, working the lower legs up to the knee. The feet and lower legs are left feeling refreshed and invigorated due to the improved circulation. <image:title>Ingrowing Toenails - Ingrowing Toenails</image:title>
<image:caption>Nails from time to time can curve as they grow, this over curvature is known as involution. Involution is not classified as true ingrowing toenail however they can be tender and painful especially if hard skin or corns build down the sides of the nail. Ingrowing toenails can be the result of a variety of things, these incluide, - Poor nail cutting - Inappropriate footwear - Genetics - Trauma - Invasive medical treatment (e.g. Chemo/radiotherapy) If a toenail penetrates the skin this is known as onychocryptosis – a true ingrowing toenail. This is usually extremely painful and will cause localised swelling and redness in the area next to the nail sometimes accompanied by a discharge or pus. With an ingrown toenail, even putting your shoes on can seem like a challenge. After all, ingrown toenails aren’t just discomforting - they can also lead to a nasty infection if left untreated. That’s why it’s highly important to seek effective ingrown toenail treatment as soon as the problem develops. Coastal Foot Health</image:caption>

<image:title>Corns - Corns The cone shaped nucleus can often feel like a sharp pin digging into the foot. It often forms on the sole of the feet or even resides under the toenail. Treatment of corns are by a method of enucleation (removal of nucleus) using a scalpel blade where we gently remove away the hard skin. We then address the mechanics of the foot to redistribute the pressure away from the corn with padding if necessary. There are many different types of corns: Heloma Durum - hard corn, tense lesion found on exposed site of direct pressure. Heloma Milliare - seed corn, found on the sole of the foot. It is hard and very small and found in clusters and can be very painful. Heloma Molle - Soft corn, found in between toes. It is usually ring shaped with maceration. Outer edge has a rubbery sensation. Heloma Neurovasculare - neurovascular corn embedded with small blood vessels or nerves. They Appear as tiny dots, usually red or yellow. Tends to be painful and usually bleeds when removed.</image:title>
